“Be the change you want to see in the world” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Good Morning, Sis I was thinking about you this morning at 2 am. I’m trying to make a difference but our people wont move! How do I do this? My frustration level is high.
Be the change.
They say “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”. The same goes for humans. You can scream “do the right thing” until you’re blue in the face but very few will , not because they’re lazy (though some of us are) but because they’re scared. Anyone whose undergone a major transformation knows that change is scary , especially when there’s no guarantee that our efforts will yield the outcome we seek. This is partially why so many of us blame others for our problems. To admit that we’re wrong or that our usual way of doing/thinking is out-dated can be difficult, especially when our pride and ego are at risk.
Luckily there are those who understand that the most effective leaders are those who lead by example. They know that if you want to make a difference the best place to start is with yourself. I guarantee if you make an honest and sincere effort to improve your life (and the lives of those who are in your care) people will take notice and before long they’ll follow your lead, not because you told them so, but because you showed them how.
